Thinking Corner: Why the Frozen & Tarzan fan theory is WRONG!

Now I know what you're thinking! 'but the director of frozen confirmed it was true' Granted there was confirmation that Tarzan is related to the Arendelle siblings but this but feels like lazy writing to me, it just doesn't add up. I know there's the theory that all the movies are within one universe and are typically linked in some way but the Tarzan and Frozen link up is a no-no. let me explain why.

The genetics are different

Within the first minute of seeing Tarzan, we have a clear view of both his mother and father. we can see that his mother has long red hair with Green eyes and the father has brown hair with blue eyes. Then if we divert our attention to Anna and Elsa's Parents they look almost completely opposite. Their Father has blonde hair and green eyes while their mother has blue/silver eyes and brown hair.

Now I know there's a fair few years difference between the releases of these films but if it was intended that the parents from frozen would become the parents of Tarzan surely they could have at least match the eye colour? I can accept the change in face shapes due to the different media used and the evolution of the Disney character design over the years but hair and eyes are something that shouldn't really change if they're supposed to be the same person.

They're clearly from different parts of the world

Tarzan's parents are clothed in typical 1880's British fashion and everything human related just screams British all the way through the film while the king and queen from Frozen are always seen in Scandinavian inspired clothes. Naturally, I know that they are going to change clothes while on the ship but the styling is far too different

Then there's the shipwreck...

One thing that really stood out to me when watching these films were the scenes when the ships are destroyed there was one teeny tiny little thing missing in the Frozen shipwreck... a FIRE! In Tarzan we see the ship go down in a massive fire, while in Frozen the ship was swallowed by the violent waves with no flame in site.

Timing is everything

This is another one of those things that jumped out at me while watching these films. In Frozen the parents are only supposed to be going away for two weeks, last time I checked my biology books this isn't anywhere near enough time to have a baby. The queen shows no signs of pregnancy when she leaves...so where did a baby come from in the less than 2 weeks they were gone? And also when in the two weeks between having Tarzan and the ship being wrecked did they have the time or think it appropriate to have a portrait done while on the ship? wouldn't it have made more sense to wait till they get home and have a full family portrait?

Original sources

With Disney often using old stories as inspiration it's hard not to reference them to help in this conundrum. In the original Tarzan novel, his parents are named Lady Alice Greystoke and Lord John Greystoke, not quite the same as King Agnarr and Queen Iduna.

Conclusion

My conclusion to all of this is that there's no way that these characters can be the same, no matter who confirms it... if anything I think this was confirmed as true because of either lazy writing or giving into the fans too easily. I refuse to believe that they are the same people as it is too far a stretch and there are too many inconsistencies in the details.
