Deadpool 2 is the sequel to the box office hit Deadpool (Duh!) continuing to follow the story of Wade Wilson doing his usual… Deadpool...Things… Including making fun of pop culture and using so, so many references. The main plot of this film is for Deadpool to save a kid named Russel from a guy named Cable (who’s a lot taller in the comics) who has travelled back in time just to kill this kid (Special treatment much!?). While including much of the original cast including Dopinder, Weasel and Blind Al ( oh Blind Al you never did find that cocaine… or the cure for blindness) this movie introduces many new characters including Domino, Bedlam, and Negasonics new piece Yukio (who is absolutely adorable!) and of course Peter, who team up to help DP in his task.
Once again the team putting together this film used amazing pop culture references including music to help with the storytelling, including tracks such as 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton, Take on me by A-ha, and maybe the most relevant of all with a movie about the time travelling Cable if I could turn back time by Cher. They've also worked with Celine Dion to create a song specifically for this movie, which worked so well with the opening credits which was very James Bond-esque opening credits while making the audience laugh it was a really beautiful sequence with some wonderful editing. and aside from the music we once again we get references to Ryan Reynolds past mistakes including the ‘original’ deadpool in X-men origins and the Green lantern. We also get the usual 4th wall breaking because let’s face it, would it really be Deadpool without it. We also see DP telling Cable to 'Zip it Thanos' as they are played by the same actor (Josh Brolin), we also see him calling Domino 'Black, Black Widow'.
The movie as a whole was incredibly cinematic and well shot and planned. I admit I was worried that the success of the first movie would really go to their heads and get really lazy with the second movie, but honestly you can see there has been so much thought put into this movie and you can tell a lot of attention was given. The marketing for this movie once again never fails to impress starting from the first trailer with Stan Lee who didn't seem to make a cameo in the movie itself this time round. The music video for the song Ashes by Celine Dion featured in the movie, and all the Deadpool remakes of movie cases.
Although the plot was simple, the character development really added to the story and nothing seemed irrelevant or added in just to pad the story out. Although this is a comedy there were parts are very meaningful and family is a huge theme throughout this movie albeit it’s not a family friendly movie, I honestly loved watching every second of it, was constantly laughing throughout the movie and would highly recommend this to any comic book fan. This is a must watch because of the characters, the story, music and all the references, and they’ve nicely set up for another movie if they so choose to do so.
kudos to Disney for their R Rated Marvel Mash up.

But the real question is, is it better than the first?
